The Comish-- Installation and use instructions

There are basically three easy steps to getting The Comish
to run. Once you get it to run, all of the configuring
is done from the admin.cgi script via a browser.

Step 1.

Check the path to perl on all the .cgi files. If your path to
perl is different from #!/usr/bin/perl you will need to change
that on the top of all .cgi files. If you are unsure what the
correct path is, ask your system admin. The Comish needs perl5
to run so make sure it points to perl 5, not perl 4.

Step 2.

Log into your account via ftp. Go to the dir you want the cgi files
to be in, this dir must be chmoded to 777. Now upload all file to
this dir. This is important, UPLOAD ALL FILES IN ASCII, or the scripts
will not work at all.

Step 3.

While still in ftp, you must chmod the following files.

admin.cgi - 755
click.cgi - 755
comish.cgi - 755
add.cgi - 755
variables.pl - 666
the_comish.lib -- none
cookies.lib -- none

Thats it, all files should run.....

Now first call up admin.cgi with a browser. It should prompt
you to enter 9 important variables, one or two steps at a time.

Once that has been completed it will take you to the main admin screen
From there you should set a few more config variables, to get the color
the way you want it to look. From the drop down list near the top of the
page, select "General Operations" and press the "Edit" button. There are
the options needed to configure your Comish to your needs. Should you have
any questions on what a certain config does, click on the "?" image next
to the option you have a question on.

Using The Comish .................

To add new accounts, just call up the add.cgi file.
Select "Create a new account" from the menu, or take the
shortcut, call up or link to add.cgi?new

All new accounts will be told to link to the click.cgi file.
Thus all referrals are sent through the click.cgi script, setting
the cookie and login the users ip address

Usage for click.cgi:
cgi-bin/click.cgi?account

If you would like to use more than one click.cgi file. Used to
redirect people to different parts of your web site, we have
a section in out comish faq that will describe how.
faq-- http://solutionscripts.com/faq/comish

We have online help files on how to use the recurring and tiered
commissions features in The Comish online manual section of our
web site -- http://solutionscripts.com/man/comish

To get The Comish to record referred transactions, it must be integrated
into a billing program. For some this is easier said than done. We have
a large how-to file in our online manual section, plus are compiling
and creating how-to manuals for specific shopping carts and billing programs.

--------------------------

All other functions are pretty much self explanatory, if you should have
any problems check the online manual, or post a message to The Comish forum,
at http://solutionscripts.com/forum/index.cgi

If you are having troubles setting up The Comish,
or integrating it into your current payment system, we will try to help out
to a certain extent, but will also set up and integrate
The Comish into any existing system for $50.
